Through tokenization, we can create digital assets. At their core, digital assets are digital representations of all kinds of objects and their associated value. They allow issuance and transfer of ownership without the need for paper documents, clearinghouses, or central custodians like Clearstream, and would eliminate most middle-men. Widespread adoption of digital assets will lead to easier and faster issuance of new securities, while cross-border transactions will be streamlined. Markets can be open 24/7, and there is no longer the need for a paper document to lie in some central safe.

Recently, some major progress has been made in regulation and policy relating to the issuance, registration, custody, and ownership of digital assets. In Germany, the Electronic Securities Act (eWpG) is in place and allows for regulated crypto-security-registers (Krypto-Wertpapierregister). Increasingly, financial authorities and lawmakers around the world are seriously discussing digital assets and their implications. Hence, it is time for banks and asset managers to consider this new investment vehicle as a real possibility in the near future. Together with several experts on digital assets, who also possess a deep knowledge of traditional asset management and banking, we will be hosting a panel to discuss “Digital Assets for Banks and Asset Managers”

We would also like to elaborate on the following questions:

– What is the significance of moving toward digital assets? Will we see all financial securities be represented as digital assets?
– What are some particularly interesting use cases for digital assets apart from the “obvious” securities and financial instruments?
– What is the impact of NFTs on Digital Assets? Where will they be used, where is it better to have fungible tokens?
– Are there any developments you are especially excited to see in the near future?

During the online panel, you will also have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers.
